Mutations
A mutation is a change in a gene or chromosome. Mutations are caused by environmental factors and also occur when a mistake is made when DNA copies itself during cell division. The four types of chromosomal mutations are deletion, duplication, inversion, and translocation.
Deletion
Deletions can cause Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome.
Duplication
Duplications can cause duplication syndrome.
Inversion
Inversions can cause hemophilia.
Translocation
Translocations can cause leukemia.
