Succession- A series of changes in a disturbed or destroyed ecosystem.
Primary succession- The series of changes that occur in an area where no soil or organisms exist.
Secondary succession- The series of changes that occur in an area where the ecosystem has been disturbed, but where soil and organisms still exist.
Climax community- A stable community that no longer goes through major ecological changes.

Primary vs. Secondary Succession
The difference between primary and secondary succession is the amount of damage done to the community that is experiencing changes. Primary succession originally has no soil or life while secondary succession has both.
