Cell Size Limitations
Cell Growth Notes
1. Living things grow by producing more cells.
2. On average, the cells of an adult animal are no larger than those of a younger animal, there are just more of them.
3. To produce more cells, the preexisting cells divide.
4. Two reasons why cells divide are:
a. The larger a cell gets, it places more demand on its DNA.
b. The cell has more trouble moving nutrients and wastes across the cell membrane.

Handmade Cells
Surface Area of Homemade Cells
Cell 1- 6x6x6=216 square centimeters
Cell 2- 6x4x4=96 square centimeters
Cell 3- 6x2x2=24 square centimeters
Cell 2- 6x4x4=96 square centimeters
Cell 3- 6x2x2=24 square centimeters
Volume of Homemade Cells
Cell 1- 6x6x6=216 cubed centimeters
Cell 2- 4x4x4=96 cubed centimeters
Cell 3- 2x2x2=24 cubed centimeters
Cell 2- 4x4x4=96 cubed centimeters
Cell 3- 2x2x2=24 cubed centimeters
Homemade Cells Homeostasis Efficiency
Cell 1 would have the least homeostasis efficiency due to its larger size because a cell struggles to let in and out nutrients and wastes as it grows. Cell 3 would have the most efficiency due to its smaller size. It should be able to let in and out nutrients and wastes easily compared to the others.
